At PROSTEEL, we regard maintaining and promoting employee health as our top management priority, and we announced our Health Declaration in October 2018. The President and Representative Director oversees these initiatives, and we work every day to promote employee health under our Health and Productivity Management philosophy. Since 2019, we have been continuously recognized as a Health and Productivity Management Outstanding Organization under a program administered by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Nippon Kenko Kaigi to recognize corporations that demonstrate outstanding health and productivity management.

Health and Productivity Management 2026
Promotion Structure

Under the President and Representative Director, we have established the Health and Productivity Management Promotion Committee. The monthly Health and Safety Committee reviews activities and exchanges opinions, creating a structure that supports an environment in which employees can work with energy and vitality.

Health Checkups

To maintain a 100% participation rate, we require all employees to undergo regular health checkups.
In addition, under the Health and Productivity Management Promotion Committee, we conduct activities such as grip-strength tests and bone-density measurements to help employees better understand their physical fitness and health status.

Overall Assessment

Since FY2020, we have added ABC screening and fecal occult blood tests as preventive measures against stomach cancer and colorectal cancer, which have high incidence rates.
In addition, we have encouraged employees to undergo detailed examinations and receive treatment, and the participation rate in these examinations has increased.
Lifestyle habits had tended to worsen due to changes in work styles, such as telework, and lifestyle changes caused by COVID-19. However, our health initiatives have reduced obesity and absenteeism rates, and lifestyle habits are now showing signs of improvement.
Going forward, to prevent lifestyle-related diseases, we will place particular focus on improving each employee’s health literacy and continue our activities based on the Challenge 8 program.

Working Environment Measures
Overtime Management
  • We use a cloud-based attendance system to monitor the working hours of all employees in real time.
  • We have concluded an Article 36 Agreement between the employer and employees, and managers in each department monitor their subordinates’ total working hours as needed and work to prevent long overtime hours.
  • We have established two No Overtime Days per month and are working to create an environment that makes it easier for employees to leave work on time.
Paid Leave Usage
  • In addition to morning and afternoon half-day leave, we have introduced an hourly paid leave system. By encouraging employees to use this system flexibly, we aim to improve the utilization rate of paid leave.

Each time, we consult with a nutritionist. In addition to white rice, employees can choose healthier rice options such as 16-grain rice, and side dishes incorporate ingredients that support health, including blood health and bone health menus.
Diet Program
  • On an irregular basis, we invite employees to participate in a program where they work toward a target weight they set for themselves, aiming to lose weight or maintain their weight in a healthy way within a set period.
Participants report only their monthly weight change, and we monitor their progress.
The Health and Productivity Management Team supports participants in their diet efforts, and prizes are awarded to those who achieve their goals.
