In January 2026, Prosteel’s employee cafeteria reopened following a renovation.

The project began in July 2025 as part of efforts to address aging facilities, and the renovation was completed over the course of approximately six months. The cafeteria has been transformed from simply a place to eat into a multifunctional space where employees can connect and gather for a variety of purposes.

Background to the Renovation

The cafeteria had long served as a familiar lunchtime gathering place for employees. However, the aging facility had begun to present safety and hygiene concerns. In addition, its simple 44-seat layout left room for improvement in terms of encouraging communication and supporting a wider range of uses.

With this in mind, the project was launched not simply as a facility upgrade, but as an effort to transform the cafeteria into a space where employees would naturally want to gather.

Renovation Highlights

① Creating a Space Where People Naturally Gather

The layout was completely redesigned to encourage natural interaction across departments. With an open and welcoming atmosphere that employees can drop into with ease, the space is designed to make mealtimes a natural opportunity for conversation and connection.

② A Comfortable and Welcoming Environment

The design concept is “natural.” Careful attention to lighting, color palette, and traffic flow has created a calm and relaxing environment. A variety of seating options—including individual seats, group tables, and sofa seating—allows employees to choose the setting that best suits their needs and preferences.

③ Designed with Employee Input

Surveys and interviews were conducted during the design process to gather input from the employees who use the space every day. By prioritizing the user perspective, the renovation was designed with practicality and ease of use in mind.

④ A Space That Supports the Workday

The cafeteria is more than just a facility—it is also a space that supports employees throughout the workday. In addition to enhancing the dining experience, the renovation aimed to create a versatile environment that supports employees in a variety of ways, whether for meetings, a change of pace, or simply taking a break.

Employee Survey Results

In a post-renovation employee survey, all respondents rated the cafeteria’s comfort level as either “good” or “very good.” More than 90% also reported higher overall satisfaction compared with before the renovation.

Employees shared comments such as, “The atmosphere feels brighter,” “It has a stylish café-like feel,” and “Even the details, such as the background music and seating, are comfortable,” reflecting their appreciation for the thought and care that went into the redesign. The cafeteria is also being used for a variety of purposes beyond dining, including meetings, individual work, and taking a break.
